Dr. Tahir is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, UK.
Dr Tahir is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. After he completed his psychiatric training in South Wales his name was registered with the General Medical Council's Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry with an endorsement for Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry. He is recognised under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act as having special experience in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders.
He has more than ten year experience in preparing psychiatric reports for both medicolegal and insurance purposes. He has a specialist interest in family law, personal injury and occupational stress.
Management of work related stress can be a key factor in improving individual and organisational performance. Dr Tahir is experienced in management of psychological issues related to work (occupational) mental health.
Dr Tahir's special interests are in the field of General Adult Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry. He has an extensive experience in managing a whole spectrum of psychiatric disorders such as depression, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, somatoform disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, eating disorders, dementia, delirium and medically unexplained symptoms.
He also works with patients in a holistic manner with a
bio-psychosocial approach to help them manage psychological consequences of chronic physical illnesses, chronic pain, chronic fatigue and health anxiety.
